The works of RJ Thunderhill embody themes of the human experience. Thunderhill seeks to capture a wide range of emotions and the gritty texture of life through various mediums. As a classically trained artist she uses detailed graphite pieces, colorful ayriclic works and digitally reimagined ink sketches to convey unique messages of relatability and empowerment.

RJ Thunderhill
RJ Thunderhill was born in Denver, Colorado. From a young age she developed an affinity for creating and working with her hands. Any and all projects that provided the opportunity to be creative, she would jump into with vigor and excitement. Her innate passion followed her through high school where she filled her schedule with numerous art classes introducing her to mediums such as ceramics, watercolor, acrylic, and digital art. In college she chose to pursue aerospace engineering but realized in her third year that the rigidity of engineering did not fulfill her need for artistic expression. She went on to work in the fields of mental health, labor, and hospitality all while continuing to fill her sketchbook with ink drawings. Her interaction with the diverse populations in these professions allowed her to develop a unique perspective on the complexities of life that carries into her art.
In pursuit of creating a life of artistic expression, RJ Thunderhill attends the REAL Academy of Art in Denver. REAL is Colorado’s first and only art school certified by the Art Renewal Center (ARC). On February 28th, 2025, Thunderhill was featured in an exhibition with Faylin Seriñeda.
